Sardinia Beaches

Maria Pia
Clear water and white sand dunes;  these are the main features of Maria Pia, the long coastline that
separates from Alghero from Fertilia.
For Alghero inhabitants anyway, especially the homonymous pine forest that s important, first because it is used as a real training camp, where to test your breath and strengthen the muscles. But also because it is now comparable to a very large urban park, where families with children spend their time.

In the summer, then It becomes a giant open-air restaurant, with open restaurants on the beach and  it is nice to make a walk on the beach and surrounding forest to digest.
The depths of the Maria Pia sea are almost all sandy, with water levels reaching two meters of depth only after few minutes walk out to sea. This makes this area particularly suitable for children, who can remain safely in the water even at 5 or 9 meters away from the line of foreshore.

The beach is peculiar in the sense that you can enjoy the beach even when standing 50 meters from the sea or, if you
Optionally, if you wish, you can bask in the sun, surrounded by pine trees not even see the water and away from wind.

The dunes, with the hosted vegetation, create a light  plays and   light and shade effects, especially in low season, when the poor attendance of the beach allows the wind to mold the sand to its liking.

The most remarkable effects of this activity can be observed where nothing stops the movement of the sand, close to the large juniper bushes blocks that rise lone.

If we are allowed to give you a hint, please visit Maria Pia in the Summer but in the early morning, with no crowd, the sun behind your shoulders while watching the water, you will see breath taking extraordinary light contrasts. You will feel like you are entering a new dimension.

Porto ferro

is a bay surrounded by a vaguely wild environment and this contributes to the charm of the place, rather it is the main ingredient.
The beach is very wide and reddish color, the sand is thin, and it's characterized by a light wind.
A friend once told the she felt like Porto Ferro beach was immersed in the sixties. I think she was right. I think the imagination need to work too much to understand the why of this feeling, you just need to look around.

The bay is enclosed between two towers, Torre Negra to the North and Torre de Bantine to the south.
From the inside of the bay you can see a third tower, the White Tower,. These are all Spanish buildings from the seventeenth century.

In summer this bay is a docile and calm.
Currents and wind and high and long waves characterize it in Spring and Autumn , and here it is  Porto Ferro populated by surfers who find here the most ideal conditions.

Some campers parked in front of the sea, bathers united by the desire to seek a beach outside the normal tour standards, wild and subtly retro tasting, the dark and warm colours of the sand and the sea, the turbulentand "spiteful" waters, Porto ferro seems to be resisting to be tame, resistant to the massive tourism yet, that's why it seems to belong to another time, and we want it to remain as it is.

La Pelosa è senz’altro una delle più belle spiagge della Sardegna. La sua sabbia bianca finissima risalta sulle scure
rocce circostanti e sull'acqua limpidissima dai colori splendidi.

La Pelosa

La Pelosa is certainly one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia.
Its fine and white sand stands out on the dark surrounding rocks and on the the clear crystal coloured water.
Along the short stretch of sea that separates it from the isles Piana and Asinara, every shade of blue alternate, from dark to turquoise.
Definitely worth visiting the island of Asinara, once a penal colony and now uncontaminated National park.
Finally it is woth photographing the landscape visible from
Cape Falcone, which dominates the Pelosa beach and the smaller Pelosetta.
The beach is shrinking year after year to leave more space to the sea. This slice of Heaven is slowly disappearing. You need to see it once in a life.

Balai

Entering Porto Torres head for the port, and moving towards the right on the on the waterfront, you get to the white church of San Gavino a Mare, on the outskirts of Porto Torres. From this point, besides a splendid view, you will see the Balai beach.

The beach is surrounded by a creek almost always devoid of wind, it is particularly interesting for the possibility to choose between the rocks and fine sand.
Balai is  nestled like a jewel among the rocks eroded by wind and emerald sea.

Isola Rossa
Rises on a long headland, right in front of the unmistakable red porphiry rock islet that gave it the name.

The center is dominated by a beautiful Spanish tower, it is intensively crowded during the summer because of the irresistible charm of this stretch of coast.

Characterized by a sequence of rock formations, intense reddish colored and picturesquely eroded by the wind, the coast offers incomparable views especially to the north.
In the south of the town lies the town of Rinaggiu; to the north instead  lies the white sand of Marinedda, protected by the promontory of Punta Li Canneddi. From Here you can still enjoy wide views of the near coastof Tinnari and the rocky bend of Porto Leccio.

Rena Bianca
The coast of Santa Teresa di Gallura is dotted by numerous bays, inlets and promontories that hide beautiful beaches, kissed by a clear sea rich in the seabed.
the Rena bianca beach is of course famous for its fine sand and beautiful water, very crowded in the Summer. Right in front of this beach lies the little isle Municca and its smooth rocks.

Marmorata & Porto Quadro

The wide bay of La Marmorata with the opposite, homonyms little islands.
The La Marmorata has a wide beach of fine sand, beautiful turquoise green waters and uncomparable views of the bay, you can even visit the ruins of an ancient Roman granite cave.

Sambuco Creek
It is a Beautiful creek with a beautiful sightseeing of Maddalena islands.
The sand is white and clean. The lush vegetation all aroundclashes with the colors of the transparent turquoise water.

Valley Erica, and Conca Verde
overlooking the fjord of Porto Pozzo. The beach of Conca Verde is about 4 km far from Porto Pozzo. You can reach it along the Route 133 in Porto Pozzo, Santa Teresa di Gallura  direction. Along the road that borders this part of the coast, there are lots of free parking areas.
This place offers an unbelievable seabed show and incredibly thick Mediterranean Vegetation. It is a ideal place for a family.

La Coluccia
Coluccia Island is a small, picturesque island reachable by following the main road connecting Santa Teresa to  Palau and then follow the signs for Porto Liscia, where you can leave your car and walk across a small isthmus leading to the island.

Coluccia has beautiful sandy beaches, lapped by turquoise sea, transparent and crystalline water. You need to see this place!
