Its name originates from the homonymous Camping that till 2008 was extended to the whole area. It is located in the Palau common and because of the strong wind it is very frequent to find there hordes of Surfer. The feature that makes this place ideal for Windsurf or Kyte practice is its exposure to winds from northwest quadrant(Tramontana, Mistral and West).
The beach faces the beautiful archipelago of La Maddalena and Caprera and the islets of Spread, Spargiotto, Santo Stefano and Budelli.
The island has two large, sandy beaches, joined with the mainland by a sandy isthmus.
The west beach is three kilometers long and includes the River Liscia outlet.
L 'Isola dei Gabbiani is a paradise for surfers from all the world who know they can play their favorite sport in summer and winter. The winds that blow throughout the year make sure that all sailing and surfing schools remain always open for the visitors.
