Wind Surf

Sardinia is also famous for its wind and attitude to sports related to it.
The wind makes thousands of fans of water sports such as surfing, kite and windsurfing rush to sardinia.
There are many places offering the perfect spot for lovers of the waves.
The best known is Capo Mannu, 30 km from Oristano, thanks to the strong Mistral,it offers waves of up to 4 meters at least three days a week.
The seabed is rocky, so when the wind blows up , the spot is reserved for experienced riders.

Another famous site is Chia, that works with strong winds from
North-East and West. The waves are steep, almost 3 meters high. The place is also wonderful for the nature, with its sand dunes and natural oasis, and each year hosts the Chia Classic Invitational,in other words, the Master of the Italian Windsuf.
Long waves and not too powerful, ideal for those who are not too practical, are also found on the beaches of Cagliari and Alghero.
For windsurfers and kite surfers, the best spot is L'isola dei Gabbiani (the Gulls Island) - Porto Pollo 6 km from Palau.

On our web site Sardinia Travel the best places to practice these sports are recommended, and also marked on a map of the island:
